Joel Glover
Joel grew up in Abilene, Texas. He moved away in the summer of 2001 for New York to play football at West Point, where he played four years on the offensive line and was team captain his senior year. He spent some time after graduating with a degree in Art, Philosophy and Literature as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for Army Athletics before leaving New York for Fort Wainwright, Alaska based on the advice of a friend in a 60-second phone call. After a summer of dodging rock slides in Alaska, Joel deployed to Iraq to lead a platoon in northwest Baghdad. When he made it home, he enjoyed Alaska with like-minded adventurers who liked to play as hard as they worked. From Kennicott to Deadhorse, they went all over Alaska, skiing, hunting, fishing, hiking, climbing, camping, curling, and biking. In 2008, his unit returned to Iraq, redeploying in September of 2009 to the Great White North. Joel loves his family, his friends and cycling…downhill. He dedicates his trip to the men and women who gave everything to America, and he is going on this adventure hoping to inspire others as much as these warriors have forever inspired him. He hopes you’ll join the guys along the way, whenever you can and for however long you’d like.
