Pete Phipps
Pete was born and raised in Hudson, Ohio,
a small town between Akron and Cleveland. After graduating from Hudson High, Pete headed east hoping to find a four year party, only to find himself shining boots and shooting weapons at West Point. Pete earned several honors not related to academics or personal conduct while at West Point, namely as a collegiate golfer. Commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant upon graduation in 2005, Pete was stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas and Okinawa, Japan. While in Japan, Pete discovered a new-found love for adventure and physical pain. Pete finished marathons in Okinawa, Nagano, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and on the Great Wall of China, earned his SCUBA diving license, climbed Mount Fuji, and finished dead last in the only cycling and triathlon races he’s ever entered. In 2008-09, Pete left the comforts of his oceanside apartment in Okinawa and served in Afghanistan near the Pakistan border. When not ironing his uniforms, Pete enjoys spending time with his two beloved and very stray dogs – Rockne and Norman, dominating Pop-A-Shot and Golden Tee in the bars, three-putting for bogey, and intentionally sitting in your seat at the ballgame. Pete feels honored to take part in this adventure and hopes to raise as much awareness and money as possible for the brave men and women he served alongside.
